The Ceilidh Bandidos, the vibrant Argyll ceilidh band

The Argyll ceilidh band with a vibrant fiddle led sound, with whistles and other stringed instruments, an experienced caller and a repertoire of both well known and less familiar ceilidh dances, The Ceilidh Bandidos are guaranteed to get the guests at your event onto the dance floor.

Now in their sixteenth year, The Ceilidh Bandidos play traditional music for ceilidh dancing. The word ceilidh (pronounced “kay-lee”) was originally used for an informal gathering, often in a house, where people would share tunes, songs, stories and a dram or two. The word is now more often used in Scotland (and in other parts of the British Isles) to denote a social event where people dance to traditional music.

As it is fairly common now to have people at a ceilidh who are not familiar with the dances some bands have a caller with them. A caller is the person who teaches the dances during the ceilidh. Stephen is the caller in The Ceilidh Bandidos. He is able to teach many dances, from the very familiar to the lesser known.

The five members of The Ceilidh Bandidos have many years’ experience in various forms of traditional music and the lineup includes Dave Baggaley on keyboards, Chris Beveridge on fiddle and Rab Woods on guitar, mandolin and mandola. We also have additional members making up a four or five piece outfit, with Ann Barlow on fiddle and David Duncan on whistle, low whistle and bodhran.

We are based in Argyll, Scotland but are willing to travel anywhere in the universe for a bit of dancing!
